UTME 2024: FG Reveals Percentage of 2024 UTME Candidates to Be Admitted into Tertiary Institutions

The Federal Government, represented by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has indicated that only approximately 20% of candidates taking the ongoing 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will secure admission into tertiary institutions nationwide. Mamman made this statement while monitoring the UTME alongside JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede in Abuja on Monday, April 22nd. This 20% represents a fraction of the more than 1.9 million registered UTME candidates vying for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. The minister emphasized the importance of skills acquisition as a critical aspect in preparing youths for a promising future, given the limited available slots in tertiary institutions.
