A staggering 95% of Nigerian students are reportedly missing opportunities for global scholarships due to a lack of awareness, preparation, and guidance, according to education experts.
Specialists highlight that while Nigerian youths possess strong academic potential, many are unaware of international funding opportunities or fail to meet eligibility criteria due to late preparation, insufficient mentorship, or poor understanding of application processes. This gap, they say, limits students’ exposure to world-class education, networking opportunities, and career advancement prospects.
Experts call for increased efforts by schools, parents, and education agencies to raise awareness about global scholarships, equip students with application skills, and provide mentorship programs that guide candidates from early stages through to successful applications. Bridging this gap, they emphasize, is key to enabling Nigerian students to compete globally and maximize their potential.
