The University of Abuja Senate, during its 191st regular meeting, approved the expulsion of 28 students and the revocation of certificates for 15 alumni. These disciplinary actions followed a report from the Student Disciplinary Committee concerning various offences, including examination malpractice, cult-related activities, theft, assault, and drug possession. Additionally, the institution withdrew the degrees of former students who repeatedly failed to respond to committee invitations.
The university also cleared nine students of allegations and issued formal warnings to 33 others for minor infractions such as hostel racketeering and fighting. Vice-Chancellor Hakeem Fawehinmi emphasised that these measures are necessary to protect the university's academic integrity and ensure a safe campus environment. Separately, the institution announced a partnership with XEJet Limited to establish an aerospace engineering centre aimed at enhancing technical training for students.
