The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged all culpable institutions to promptly upload their undisclosed admissions on its portal for processing to enable candidates obtain their retroactive letters of admission. This call became necessary following the dismal response of these institutions to the plight of their hapless students who are anxiously waiting for their letters of mobilization for the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exercise. It would be recalled that a wide array of tertiary institutions in Nigeria had submitted close to a million undisclosed a d Missions to the Board for condonement. These candidates, whose degrees were not formally recognised by relevant authorities, had expressed frustration leading to the Hon. Minister of Education, Mall. Adamu Adamu, to approve a final condonement of underhand admissions. The Board had, in fulfilment of the ministerial directive, placed an advertorial in November 2021, on how to facilitate the condonement, which process requires the institution concerned to upload such candidates on the Board’s portal while the candidates proceed afterwards to the Board’s centres for necessary capturing. However, the Board has decried the slow pace at which the various institutions are proceeding with the matter. While the candidates are, at present, awaiting their institutions to upload their details, available records with the Board, show that less than 5% of about one million applications for condonement have been uploaded. The Board is using this medium to appeal to the institutions to do the needful to ameliorate the plight of these candidates.
