The National Examinations Councils (NECO) has released the 2021 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) external candidates’ results. The result, which was released two months after the last paper was written, had a 78% pass rate. NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, who announced the results at the council’s headquarters in Minna, the Niger State capital, said four supervisors from Niger, Borno and Delta states were blacklisted for aiding and abetting during the examination. According to him, these supervisors would no longer be engaged in the conduct of NECO examinations. The NECO boss reiterated the council’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice, saying appropriate standards and excellence were maintained from the planning stage to the release of results. A total number of 49,916 candidates registered for the November – December external examination, adding that 36,116 out of 45,821 candidates made Credit and above in the English language, representing 78.04%. On examination malpractice, 4,454 candidates were caught for various infractions as against 6,465 recorded in 2020.
