In its desire to better serve its teeming population of candidates as well as conclude its examination within the stipulated time, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced its decision to hold four sessions instead of its traditional three in four of its examination towns. This decision was announced by the Registrar of the Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, at the end of a consultative meeting with critical stakeholders held to finalise all arrangements for the conduct of the upcoming 2022 UTME.

The affected centres are situated in the following examination towns: Abule Egba/Agege/Ikeja( Lagos); Mainland (Lagos) Funtua/ Malumfashi (Katsina) examination towns. The Registrar disclosed that the Board was constrained to adopt this course of action because one of the centres was gutted by fire while the others failed as a result of technical incapacity on their part and in line with the Board’s policy of not moving candidates outside their chosen examination towns, the Board had no option but to ensure that an additional session is created in centres within these examination towns. This, according to him, would enable the candidates who had picked these examination towns to take their respective examinations within the window allotted to the Board by the Federal Ministry of Education so as to afford other examination bodies the opportunity to conduct their examinations.

It is to be noted that candidates applying for the UTME, choose the examination town they wish to sit their examination on the basis of which the Board would assign them to centres within the chosen examination towns. Consequently, candidates who are to sit the UTME in the affected centres are to ensure that they are at their allocated centres at the time specified in their e-slips. Meanwhile, the Board is continuing its consultations with critical stakeholders including Technical Officers, Chief Technical Advisors, Resident Monitors, BVR Operators, Supervisors and its eight select monitoring groups, in order to deliver a hitch-free 2022 UTME.
