The 1984 graduating set of Baptist Academy, Obanikoro, Lagos, has inaugurated a newly remodelled dining hall valued at N90 million as part of activities marking their 40th anniversary. The renovation includes a new roof, tiling, restrooms, kitchen fittings, and furniture, transforming the once dilapidated structure into a modern facility for students.
Chairman of the alumni set, Akin Dosumu, said the project was necessary because the original dining hall had deteriorated significantly over time. He urged school management and students to take good care of the facility so that future generations can benefit from it.
Officials highlighted the alumni association’s ongoing commitment to supporting the school’s infrastructure development, including other projects such as hostels and sports facilities. They also launched the Baptist Academy Infrastructure Development Fund, aimed at raising N1 billion for critical projects at the institution.
The school’s principal and regional education authorities expressed appreciation for the alumni’s intervention, noting that the improved dining hall will enhance the learning environment and overall student experience.
Baptist Academy, founded in 1855, is one of Nigeria’s oldest secondary schools, known for its legacy of academic excellence and notable alumni.
