The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s cultural identity and fostering creative talent through its "UNILAG in Town" initiative. As part of this effort, the university produced and staged "Moremi," a major theatrical production based on the legendary Yoruba heroine Moremi Ajashoro. The project, which featured students and staff in key roles, was driven by a directive from the Vice-Chancellor to host annual flagship productions that reflect national values.

The production of Moremi was specifically chosen to highlight historical themes of courage, selflessness, and sacrifice. Following a successful run at Terra Kulture in July, the university expanded the project in December into a "three-in-one" cultural event that included the stage play, a musical performance, and an art exhibition. Organizers strategically scheduled the showcase during the festive season to engage the wider public and promote indigenous values during a period of high cultural activity.
