The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has provided guidance for candidates of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Board (UTME) who lost their phones after registering for the exam. JAMB emphasized that the only recourse for such candidates is to retrieve their phone numbers.

This clarification came in response to a candidate's query about how to access their result after losing their phone post-registration for the UTME. According to JAMB, the phone number serves as more than just a contact detail; it is a unique identifier that JAMB will use to track the candidate throughout their undergraduate program. Losing this number could pose significant challenges for the candidate.

This announcement follows JAMB's recent release of the 2024 UTME results. Professor Oloyede, the JAMB registrar, disclosed that out of the 1,904,189 candidates who took the exam, 64,624 results were withheld pending further investigation.
