The Federal Government has directed that all specialized institutions in the country to stick to their mandates for which the institutions were mandated.

The spokesman for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dr. Fabian Benjamin disclosed that the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu had given directive to JAMB to delete all course's that are not related to the mandate for which the institution were set up for on there portal in a statement on Sunday.

Among the universities in this category are universities of agriculture, universities of technologies, and universities of medicine.

The Minister also noted that it is unfortunate that some universities of agriculture offer programmes in law, management courses such as accounting, banking and finance, business administration among others and also go as far as changing the nomenclature of some course to read for instance banking engineering, accounting technology, among other names.

“This is an aberration and should be stopped with immediate effect.”
