JAMB Introduces New Channels for Acceptance of Admission

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced new procedures for accepting admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria, as outlined in its weekly bulletin sent to Legit.ng on Monday, May 6. Previously, candidates could log in to their profiles through accredited computer-based test (CBT) centres on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). However, due to abuses in the process, JAMB has implemented changes. Institutions and cybercafes were found accepting or rejecting offers on behalf of candidates, often to create vacancies for less-qualified candidates or for extortion. To counter this, candidates can now send "ACCEPT" or "REJECT" to 55019 or 66019 from their dedicated phone lines. Alternatively, they can access their admission status using fingerprints at accredited CBT centres or JAMB offices. These changes aim to protect candidates' personal information and uphold the integrity of the admission process.
